Theory of knowledge


Theory of knowledge is a course on the IB that challenges students to question themselves about different ideas. It uses a process of sharing and discovering students views on knowledge issues.
The Theory of Knowledge course is expected to involve at least a 100 teaching hours on the two years of the Diploma.

OBJECTIVES:
· Show an understanding of the different ways of knowing and also of the methods used in the different areas.
· Show an understanding that tells us that personal views, judgments and beliefs can also influence our own knowledge.

ASSESSMENTS:
The TOK course will end in two assessments: the TOK presentation and the TOK essay. These assessments are going to give students up to 3 bonus points on the Diploma.

1. TOK essay: Each IB exam presents ten essays in which you should choose. The essay should link knowledge issues to areas of knowledge and ways of knowing.
2. TOK presentation: During the theory of knowledge. You must plan and deliver at least one individual or group presentation to the class.
